Abigail Arunga has been a prominent figure in Kenya’s creative scene for the past 12 years. A versatile talent, known as a writer, author, editor, columnist, moder ator, scriptwriter, social media manager, influencer, publicist, poet, copywriter, bookstore owner, quizmaster, podcaster, and MC.

Her impressive portfolio includes scriptwriting for the award-winning soap opera Lies That Bind, writing for M-Net shows like Block D and How To Find A Husband, and contributing to the hit Showmax title Pepeta.

Now, Abigail returns as the head writer for Showmax’s latest adult drama, 4Play.

She describes herself as curious, hopeful, grateful, optimistic, talented, blessed and highly favoured.

True to her word, Abigail is not only curious and talented but, as evidenced by her latest creation 4 Play, she isn’t afraid to break barriers and tackle taboo topics.

“This show is different from any other project I’ve done before because I felt like I was truly allowed to have a creative voice in exploring adults, adult stories, and adult sensuality,” she says.

Though born in Nairobi, Abigail vividly recalls the first time she roamed the city alone at 12. Having never used a matatu before, she was eager to attend a movie or church event on her own, but no one would pick her up.

Acting confident, she boarded a matatu, unaware of the route. On the way back, the driver took a different path. Fearing she was being kidnapped, she panicked and asked to be dropped off. This led to a 45-minute walk home past a dark forest at 7 p.m. The frightening experience taught her self-reliance and a healthy dose of caution she never forgot.
