A Kasarani man has found himself on the wrong side of the law after allegedly stabbing his wife four times, accusing her of stealing his mobile phone.
Dennis Nganga Karari denied charges of viciously assaulting his wife, Eva Wambui Kamau, on March 1 at their home in Alabama, Sunton, in Kasarani.
According to court records, the accused arrived home that night appearing drunk. He placed his mobile phone on the table before heading to bed. Upon returning, he accused his wife of stealing his phone.
The complainant attempted to tell him that his phone was on the table, but he refused to believe her, claiming that the phone on the table was just a replica of his.
He strangled her before stabbing her four times using a kitchen knife on both hands, while she tried to cover her head.
The complainant called for help from neighbours, but the accused locked the door. It was only after the neighbours forced the door open that they were able to rescue her. She was then escorted to a nearby clinic for treatment before reporting the matter to the police.
Karari has been granted a cash bail of Sh20,000, with the hearing scheduled for September.
