Nairobi’s self-proclaimed Jeshi La Baba leader, Swaleh Sonko, has issued a fiery warning, vowing chaos if his ally Calvince "Gaucho" Okoth, also known as the Ghetto President, is harmed.

In a viral video circulating on social media, Swaleh delivered a stern message ahead of the planned June 25 protests: “Mjaribu Gaucho mjue hakuwagi peke yake… hiyo tarehe 25 tunaingia wote hiyo town. Msitujaribu,” he said, signaling a mass mobilization if Gaucho is targeted.

His remarks come after a tense confrontation in Nairobi’s CBD, where Gaucho led a boda boda convoy that clashed with young protesters.

In a separate video, some youth can be heard hailing him as their leader: “He joined the government and left us to rule the ghetto,” one says.

The situation escalated further after activist Boniface Mwangi accused the government of hiring Gaucho to disrupt peaceful demonstrations and intimidate activists.

“The goons burnt vehicles and attacked protestors while getting police protection. Ruto is very desperate!” Mwangi alleged, tagging #RutoMustGo in his post.

Gaucho has denied the accusations, claiming he was only in town to offer protection to Treasury CS John Mbadi during budget day. However, leaked footage shows him appearing to incite boda boda riders against protesters.

The backlash online has been swift, with critics branding him a "sell-out" and demanding his arrest for allegedly betraying the protest movement.

Swaleh Sonko is no stranger to controversy.

In March, he made headlines after threatening social media personality Francis Gaitho in a video, following claims that Swaleh led goons who attacked and robbed civilians during President Ruto’s Mathare rally.

“Kama uliibiwa hiyo mali haikuwa yako, hukupata halali,” Swaleh said in the clip, defending the actions of the alleged attackers.
