78-year-old granny surprising claims, blames misfortunes on lack of intimacy

A-78-year-old woman surprised people in Homa Bay when she told journalists she was leading a deplorable life since she is no longer sexual active.

Greater Atieno Onyuna believes had she had the energy to sustain sex, she would be living in a decent house.

She lives in an iron sheet walled house locally known as Kaunda at Nyagidha village, Arujo location. The iron sheets are now rusty, and whenever it rains, water leaks in, soaking the household items and beddings.

"The iron sheets that were used for constructing my house are dilapidated. It leaks from the roof, dampening the floor," lamented Atieno.

She said the house no longer protects her from the cold weather as it should.

"I am currently in trouble due to the state of my house," said the mother of three, two who have died while the surviving one has no source of income.

"I had three daughters but two died. The one who is a live is so financially challenged that she cannot build a house," said Atieno who claims she has tried to convince villagers to assist her build a better house in vain.

When she met journalists in Homa Bay town, Atieno claimed was currently disadvantaged because she no longer has the ability to engage in a sexual relationship with a man.

She said women who are sexually active can use their sexual ability to convince men to help them when they face a challenge similar to hers.

"An kawuono aonge kar tholo suna kata kar toyo njugu (a Luo phrase meaning she is unable to engage in sex)," said Atieno.

Her hopes of having a better house have evaporated since the efforts she has made in her circles have failed. She is appealing to well-wishers to come to her rescue.

"I have pleaded for help from various people but I have not succeeded," she said.
