The online community is mourning the sudden death of 23-year-old TikToker Cecilia Achieng, who died in a tragic road accident along the Thika Superhighway, just months after graduating from Mount Kenya University.
According to a report run by TV47, the accident occurred shortly after she boarded a taxi on her way home.
The driver said Cecilia asked to alight before reaching her destination, saying she would find her own way.
Moments later, she was reportedly hit by a speeding car while crossing the road near Ruiru, dying on the spot.
Eyewitnesses, including bodaboda riders, corroborated the account, alleging that the incident happened within minutes of her stepping out of the taxi.
Her death has left family, friends, and fans heartbroken.
Many have taken to social media to share emotional tributes, describing her as a cheerful and kind soul who spread love and positivity through her content.
One of her relatives shared a heartfelt message online, writing:
“I’ve loved you ever since you came into this world. I’ve supported everything you’ve done. You were my confidant, my best friend, my replica, my mother’s lastborn. I love you, and I’ll love you even in death. Go well, my love. Where do people take broken hearts to? My sister was so kind and so loving, she really wanted the best for us.”
Cecilia, who was widely known on TikTok for her lively videos and infectious positive energy, had recently celebrated completing her studies and was looking forward to starting her career.
Friends described her as a vibrant young woman full of dreams and plans for the future.
Investigators now have a full in-tray as the inquest begins on her untimely death.
