Heart-stopping CCTV footage captures motorist's narrow escape from attackers

A chilling CCTV clip has captured the split-second moment a motorist narrowly escaped what appears to have been a deadly ambush by armed goons on motorbikes.

The heart-stopping incident unfolded in the early hours of February 4, at around 2 am, with multiple reports alleging that the incident took place in Eldoret.

In the video seen by TNX Africa, the motorist appeared to be slowly driving towards a gate.

Moments after, two motorbikes are spotted tailing the Toyota Vitz at close range, before ultimately making their move.

One motorbike carrying three men overtook the car and abruptly blocked the road.

Two of the suspects jumped off and rushed towards the vehicle, allegedly armed with guns and machetes, seemingly attempting to force the door open.

In a dramatic twist, the motorist reacted just in time, slamming the brakes, throwing the car into reverse and flooring it.

In the process, he narrowly missed knocking down other suspects who were closing in on a second motorbike, before speeding off to safety in a daring escape caught entirely on camera.

The shocking incident has reignited concerns over rising insecurity in the country, particularly crimes linked to motorbike riders.

Online, netizens reacted in earnest to the video, urging caution while calling for police action on the incident.

"Always be alert and ready to act in difficult circumstances,"

The incident comes amid growing public outrage, with matatu operators recently staging protests over attacks allegedly carried out by rogue boda boda riders, including the torching of vehicles following accidents.

Just a day ago, a viral video from Nairobi’s Raila Road showed pedestrians having their phones snatched in broad daylight by boda boda riders, once again prompting calls for police action.
