Jamaican-American pilot Jabari Stephan Brown, known online as Captain Treezy, has been released by Paraguayan authorities after being briefly detained in connection with a major drug seizure involving an aircraft.
Brown was arrested at a hotel in Asunción over the weekend as investigators probed possible links to the transport of about 577 pounds of marijuana discovered on a plane.
Local media reported that he had served as co-pilot of the aircraft under scrutiny.
Authorities said the seized cannabis, which contained high levels of THC, had an estimated street value of about Sh466 million ($3.6 million).
However, the Prosecutor’s Office later concluded that Brown had no role in the alleged trafficking operation and released him after confirming he fully cooperated with investigators and was unaware of the illicit cargo on board.

Paraguay’s National Anti-Drug Secretariat (SENAD) also said in a radio interview that the aircraft’s main pilot had already left the country before the seizure operation took place.
While Brown was cleared, three other individuals were detained and charged, including Marisol Rivas, 39, from New York, Troy Anthony Vasquez, 42, from Florida, and David Thomas Wise, 58, from California. They were taken to the Public Ministry to record statements, according to reports from the Associated Press.
Authorities said the Bombardier Challenger 604 had flown from Miami to Paraguay via a stopover in Panama before arriving at its final destination.
Brown previously gained international attention after winning YouTube creator MrBeast’s “100 Pilots Fight For A Private Jet” challenge in December 2025, a victory that earned him a Hawker 400XP jet valued at about Sh310 million ($2.4 million).
Officials stressed that the aircraft awarded in the competition was not connected to the drug trafficking investigation.
Following his release, Brown posted on social media addressing the incident, saying he had long relied on faith during difficult moments and maintaining that he was unaware of any wrongdoing. He has since continued sharing updates on his Captain Treezy accounts, reiterating his innocence.
