Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho has conveyed President William Ruto’s condolences to Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan following the death of her husband, Mzee Hafidh Ameir Hassan.

Joho travelled to Tanzania where he delivered President Ruto’s message of condolence and encouragement to President Samia as she mourns her husband.

In a message shared on social media, Joho said he had the “solemn opportunity” to personally deliver Ruto’s message to the Tanzanian President.

“I had the solemn opportunity to deliver H.E. President Dr. William Ruto’s message of condolence and encouragement to H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, following the passing of her beloved husband, Mzee Hafidh Ameir Hassan,” Joho said.

Joho was accompanied by Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi during the visit.

He said the Kenyan delegation assured President Samia and her family that Kenya stood with them during the difficult period.

“Accompanied by Hon. Oscar Sudi, I assured H.E. President Samia and her family of our thoughts and prayers as they navigate this painful period,” Joho said.

Joho further offered prayers for the family and the people of Tanzania, asking for strength and comfort as they come to terms with the loss.

“May the Almighty Allah SWT grant the departed eternal rest and give H.E. President Samia, her family and the people of Tanzania fortitude, comfort and peace during this difficult time,” he said.

The late Mzee Hafidh Ameir died while receiving treatment at a hospital in Zanzibar.

Authorities revealed that he had been suffering from a heart condition.

He was buried at his family's residence in Kizimkazi, a village on the country's semi-autonomous island of Zanzibar, on Monday evening.
