Bolo Bespoke and his wife, Mueni, recently opened up about their relationship in a conversation on their YouTube channel, Bolo’s Family.

The couple reflected on their struggles and how they overcame challenges to build a strong partnership.

Mueni spoke openly about the early difficulties in their relationship. “How did you come to be what you are now? You’ve become a gentleman who is admirable, a good husband and father,” she said.

“But when we started, you weren’t like this. I used to be so worried. Kitambo nilikuwa on my feet, simu yako nitaipata saa ngapi? Na vile ulikuwa unaweka password refu refu!”

She revealed how she once had to wait until Bolo was intoxicated to access his messages. She discovered evidence of infidelity, including screenshots and other messages.

“Kuna siku I took your phone nikajipost. Nikaandika ‘the love of my life.’ Wasichana wakatusi! ‘So you were cheating on me,’ ‘I’m not the only one.’ Kumbe mimi nilikuwa nakuja kwako Friday na Monday ukona mnew mnew. Kuna time tulikosana four months ulicheat I think na 12 people and I wasn’t in your life. I even blocked you on Instagram, “Mueni recounted.

Bolo admitted to his mistakes, attributing them to his immaturity at the time. “I was in my twenties and still making mistakes. We had no children then. Men in their twenties are still figuring things out. Women often know what they want early, but sisi wanaume tunakaa huko enjoying life until our thirties,” he explained.

Despite the rough start, Mueni said she no longer dwells on the past. “Anyway, who cares about the past? Tuko hapa, and we are here to stay.”

In October, weeks after their traditional wedding, Mueni reflected on their humble beginnings during an interview with Dr Ofweneke, where Bolo joined her.

“When I met Bolo, he was broke; I was in the shows then, I was hosting karaoke. I had shows every week, about four times, so I was a little bit okay; I was already living my life. I had my house, a two-bedroom at 21. Bolo was living in Umoja, with his dad,” Mueni recalled.

She went on to describe the conditions Bolo was living in at the time. “I am proud of his journey because when I found him, he was sleeping on the floor; there was no TV, no seat, just a shoe rack with a lot of ugly shoes,” she said.

Mueni added: “But here he is; he was a man who was responsible. Bolo was broke not because he was wasting money but because when his dad passed on, he was left the responsibility of taking care of his family. Every coin Bolo got, he was helping his mum and sisters. He was the sole provider, but he had a very solid heart after his father died. Him being responsible made me love him.”

However, it wasn't love at first sight. Mueni admitted that she initially had strong negative feelings towards Bolo.

“I hated him with a passion. He was full of pride,” she confessed during the interview. “He always had numerous girls around him, so he didn’t stand to me like a decent guy.”
