Kenyan reggae sensation Shadrack Dimata is back with a soul-stirring new single, You Are Mine, a song that intertwines traditional Kenyan rhythms with reggae’s unmistakable heartbeat.
The track is more than just music, it’s a deeply personal reflection on love, trust, and the devastating effects of betrayal.
Dimata reveals that his inspiration came from a heartbreaking real-life experience in his neighbourhood. A once-happy couple was torn apart by infidelity, a painful reality he witnessed firsthand.
“I saw the anguish that betrayal brings,” he shares. “Music is my way of educating and healing. I want to remind people about the value of fidelity, communication, and respect in relationships.”
Renowned for weaving personal narratives into broader social themes, Dimata has cemented his place in Kenya’s reggae scene as a voice of truth and consciousness.
His 2023 hit, Humble Land of Africa, paid tribute to his heritage, featuring breathtaking visuals showcasing Kenya’s raw beauty.
Through his music, he continues to celebrate his roots while delivering powerful messages of hope, resilience, and unity.
A pivotal influence in Dimata’s journey is the legendary Lucky Dube, whose socially conscious reggae left a lasting impact. “Lucky’s music wasn’t just about rhythm, it had meaning. That’s the legacy I strive to uphold,” he says.
Looking ahead to 2025, Dimata is set to expand his musical footprint. He plans to release a high-energy dancehall track and hopes to collaborate with Kenyan rap powerhouse Nyashinski and global reggae icon Morgan Heritage.
“Together, we can create something monumental,” he declares.
