Fans and supporters of Willy Paul have been left disappointed after what was meant to be one of the biggest concert of the year, 'Pozze Live,' has been abruptly cancelled at the last minute.
Pozze had earlier taunted thet he was going to shut down Nairobi, for one of its kind concert while eyeing to attract a crowd of over 50k people.
The highly anticipated event, which was scheduled to take place at Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), was shut down by police despite months of planning, rehearsals, and heavy financial investment.
Comedian Eric Omondi, who was actively involved in organizing the event, took to Instagram to express his frustration, revealing that authorities provided no concrete explanation for the cancellation.
According to his post, security concerns were not the issue, as the organizers had even requested 50 police officers to be deployed at the venue. However, he claimed the event was stopped for reasons beyond security.
“The police have appeared at KICC and said they have orders to stop the event. The question is why? It’s not about security, it’s about Eric Omondi and other factors,” he wrote.
The funny man further disclosed that Willy Paul had invested over KSh 21 million of his savings into the event, which was expected to be a major milestone in his music career. With the last-minute shutdown, all the money, time, and effort have seemingly gone to waste.
Despite the cancellation, Willy Paul has remained silent on the matter, leaving fans speculating about his reaction and next steps. Many supporters have taken to social media to express their disappointment, with some questioning whether Kenyan artistes are given a fair chance to succeed in the local entertainment industry.
The abrupt cancellation of such a major concert raises concerns about the unpredictability of event planning in Kenya. With Eric Omondi frequently advocating for the rights of local artistes, the comedian’s frustration reflects a growing sentiment among Kenyan creatives who feel unsupported.
