Kenyan songbird Njerae has officially released the visuals for 'Beg For It,' the lead single off her 2025 EP, ‘Four Letter Word.’
The track is gaining popularity among music lovers and enthusiasts, becoming a love anthem in event spaces in Nairobi and beyond.
‘Four Letter Word’ EP was dropped on Valentine’s Day, celebrating love while acknowledging all the phases that one goes through when they are infatuated.
Directed by the super talented film director Jesse Cassidy, famously known as King Khassidy, the video captures the story behind “Beg For It,” blending shots, lighting, color, ambience, and the subjects to compliment the messaging in the track.
The director has worked with various lethal acts like Buruklyn Boyz, Octopizzo and Njerae namely. King Khassidy was also the director of Njeare’s top-charting single “Aki Sioni (Magik Mix),” which has recently hit the 1M mark on YouTube.
The visuals feature Kenyan pop group H_Art The Band’s member Mordecai Dex, who perfectly executes the role.
In the video, Mordecai, who is also a musician and producer, acts as the toxic lover whom Njerae is ready to risk it all for. His performance creatively carries the story with his actions.
He picks Njerae up, drives her to a picnic date, brings food, and holds her hand despite him being a toxic lover (being distant and seeming late to their date).
The following morning he makes her breakfast and creates a space where she can be herself. She returns the favor by helping to take care of his dreadlocks and hanging out with him. These actions reflect the thoughtfulness and love that Njerae craves in the song.
With every scene, the two show love to each other, and it further drives the core message of the song; human beings are forever ready to fight for the people they care so much about.
“The video is a piece of my heart. Alongside Khassidy, we thought portraying a couple in a relationship exuding raw emotions is important. Acts of service, spending time, and a lot more in between. It felt important to show these aspects for me, and to work with a director like Khassidy who I believe would bring out the vision of the music precisely” Njerae says
The “Aki Sioni" hitmaker is known for creating love songs that resonate with Kenyans. In events, they sing along to her songs, letting their emotions out and deeply expressing how they vibe with the song.
