Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz has fiercely defended himself after a socialite claimed she is pregnant with his child. He claims it is an attempt to tarnish his image using leaked intimate videos.
The controversy erupted when the private clips surfaced on social media, first appearing on Tanzanian blogger Mange Kimambi’s page. The videos, which quickly went viral, feature Diamond in affectionate moments with Rita Norbeth, a stunning Tanzanian socialite.
In the clips, the two appear deeply smitten, hugging, kissing, and sharing cosy moments in a house.
Diamond can be seen showering Rita with compliments about her beauty and curves, appearing quite content in her company.
However, following the video's release, Rita made headlines by announcing her pregnancy, sparking widespread speculation that Diamond could be the father.
Unfazed by the online storm, Diamond took to Instagram with a bold statement, confirming that he had been in a relationship with Rita in the past but had long moved on.
According to him, the videos were outdated and being used in a deliberate blackmail attempt.
“Nimeona kuna clip zinasambazwa mtandaoni kunihusu. Clip hizo ni za zamani, mwaka 2023, na zina zaidi ya miaka miwili nyuma… Na mwanamke huyo pia niliachana naye takriban miaka miwili sasa… Lakini pia nilimueleza mwenzangu niliyenae na tukasameheana na kuanza maisha mapya…” (I have seen clips being shared online about me. These clips are old, from 2023, and are over two years old… I also broke up with that woman almost two years ago… But I informed my current partner, and we forgave each other and moved on with our lives…)
He went on to expose Rita’s alleged motives, accusing her of twisting the narrative to extort money from him.
“Mwanamke huyo sasa ameamua kutumia clip hizo na kuambatanisha na jumbe za uongo kwa lengo la kuni blackmail na kutengeneza fedha, jambo hili lishafikishwa katika mamlaka husika na taratibu za kisheria zinafuatwa. Shukran.” (That woman has now decided to use those clips along with false messages to blackmail me and make money. This matter has already been reported to the relevant authorities, and legal procedures are being followed. Thank you.)
Diamond made it clear that he was taking the issue seriously, having already alerted authorities to handle the blackmail attempt. He assured fans that the necessary legal steps were in progress.
Despite his known reputation for fathering children with different women across Africa, the Mbagala hitmaker appears determined to clear his name in this latest scandal.
