After battling depression and alcohol addiction, comedian and content creator Henry Desagu made his first appearance on Sunday, March 2.
He joined the congregation at JCM Church in a church service led by Bishop Muthee Kiengei. In the service, he shared his passionate journey to recovery from the scourge of depression and alcohol addiction.
"Thank God for healing me, and I appreciate Bishop Ben Guka wa Nairobi Muthee Kiengei for the prayers. Thanks to Mofarm JM for walking with me through this journey. I appreciate everyone for their great support," he shared.
Earlier in November 2024, the comedian had dismissed the rumors regarding his health stating that he was okay.
In the video, he shared, "Team Mwihoko, Team Umbwedede, we’re saying everything’s fine. The King of Mwihoko himself is here, and he’s strong."
The comedian admitted during the church service that it had not been easy for him.
In the testimony, he shared, “I’m the one who always tells you ‘Umbwedede’ on social media, but in reality, life had made me ‘umbwedede.’ I was sick with depression, but God is good. I went to the hospital and received treatment,"
For a while now, Henry Desagu has been battling severe depression and alcoholism which led his career to go downhill.
His hilarious stand-up comedy and skits that once made him popular began to reduce in the entertainment industry.
His family later revealed that he was battling severe depression and alcoholism, which eventually led to his hospitalisation.
Desagu thanked his friends and family for the unwavering support, prayers and encouragement that he received during his time of need.
Henry’s overwhelming support was led by well-wishers who generously helped him. Gatundu North MP Elijah Njoroge Kururia led a fundraiser to pay for his rehabilitation and medical expenses.
The Businessman also known as Mofarm JM was amongst those who spearheaded Desagu’s journey to recovery.
Kneeling humbly, Bishop Kiengei prayed for the comedian and urged him to be strong and stay true to his career.
"Now that he is well, Desagu must use his talent to rise again. He should remain strong and continue with his purpose," the bishop advised.
