Media personality Amina Abdi has stirred conversation online after calling out women who date their friend’s or sister’s ex-partners in a now-viral video.
In the clip, Amina expresses strong disapproval of the behavior, stating she would openly judge anyone who gets into a relationship with someone their friend or sister has dated or is currently dating.
“We listen and we don’t judge. However, I will forever judge ladies who date their friend’s exes, boyfriends or husbands. I’m talking about anyone who was once part of your friend or sister’s life,” she said.
The outspoken presenter went on to question the mindset behind such actions, even jokingly suggesting it might involve sorcery.
“Are you possessed? You must be a witch… aren’t you? Out of all the billions of people, you chose your friend’s or sister’s ex-partner—or current one?” Amina exclaimed.
She added that anyone engaging in such behavior must be "messed up," emphasizing that someone introduced to you as a friend’s partner should be off-limits.
“I don’t care—I will judge you to the end. If someone introduces their lover to you, you should automatically view them as a brother. That’s dumb and you’re messed up,” she added.
The video triggered a flurry of reactions across social media. While some users backed Amina’s sentiments, others offered differing perspectives.
One Instagram user simply wrote, “I support you.” Meanwhile, another user defended their personal decision to date a friend’s ex, sharing in Swahili:
“Sasa kama huyo ndio soulmate wako aaaaiiiii… Anyways, y’all can judge all you want. I’m in a very serious relationship and almost married to my friend’s ex.”
Others took a lighter approach, joking, “What if they vibe?”
