The former midfield maestro touched down in Kenya just a few days ago, and his visit has been nothing short of a celebration. From mingling with young talents to sharing laughs with fans, Mikel’s presence has brought a fresh wave of excitement to local football lovers.
Dubbed the ‘Football Fiesta’, his Kenyan tour continues into Sunday, culminating in a highly anticipated watch party at the Nairobi Club. The main event? Mikel watching his beloved Chelsea take on newly crowned Premier League champions Liverpool, side by side with Nairobians. Kickoff is at 6:30 pm, and the vibe promises to be electric.
“It’s been a while since I was last here,” Mikel told reporters when he landed. “Kenya has always felt like home to me. I’m excited to be back, and who knows—we might just discover the next John Obi Mikel, or even the next Messi or Ronaldo right here.”
And it is not just about the game. Mikel is keen on giving back. “Coaching kids, helping them grow into great playersthat’s something I truly enjoy. These young talents are the future, and it’s important they get the right support.” He stated.
As for Sunday’s clash, the former Nigerian international could not hide his excitement: “It’s going to be a party! Watching a Chelsea game with passionate fans here in Nairobi is something special. The energy, the reactions it’s going to be massive. Hopefully, it ends with a Chelsea win!”
