Tributes continue as fans mourn, Samuel Monroe Jr and Jaye P. Morgan

Fans are mourning the passing of actor, Samuel Monroe Jr. 52 and singer Jaye P. Morgan 94.

Monroe Jr, was known for appearing in popular Black films in the 1990s. His mother, Joyce Patton, confirmed the sad news in a social-media post, News York Times reports.

He suffered from MRSA pneumonia and meningitis, and his condition became worse in recent months, requiring intensive treatment, dialysis and several surgeries as doctors worked to manage his complications.

He became widely known after his first film role in the 1993 movie Menace II Society.

His other memorable film credits included Tales From the Hood, Set It Off, Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood and The Players Club.

He also appeared on television shows including Moesha and The Jamie Foxx Show. He is survived by 3 children.

As for the late Jaye P. Morgan 94, the popular American singer and television personality, she passed away from natural causes, KPTV reports.

Born in Mancos, Colorado, she began performing at only 3 years old in her family’s travelling vaudeville act, becoming a successful singer in the 1950s after signing with RCA Records.

Her best-known songs included “That’s All I Want From You,” “The Longest Walk,” “Danger! Heartbreak Ahead,” “If You Don’t Want My Love” and “Pepper-Hot Baby.”

Morgan later became widely known on television. She regularly appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, The Merv Griffin Show, The Dick Cavett Show and The Mike Douglas Show.

She was also a celebrity judge on the wild talent programme The Gong Show alongside Jamie Farr and Rip Taylor.

Her memorable TV and film appearances included The Muppet Show, The Odd Couple, Love Boat, Fantasy Island and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

She also featured in films such as The Gong Show Movie, Night Patrol, Loose Shoes, The All-American Boy and George Clooney’s Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.

She is survived by her son, Paul Kane.
