Nairobi County Environment Chief Geoffrey Mosiria has cracked the whip on Pastor James Ng’ang’a’s Neno Evangelism Center over Sh10 million land rates.
In a video shared on his official X platform, Mosiria, accompanied by county enforcement officers, clarified that the move was aimed at collecting dues and not disrupting the church’s operations.
“Tutakuja hapa kamaa kawaida kwa sababu apostle mwenyewe niliiona video alisema takataka ya 10 million. Ni mimi nimesimamia takataka ndio maana nimekujia inisaidie tuweze kufuel magari zetu tukaokote takataka Nairobi yote,” Mosiria said.
In the same video, a County official accompanying Mosiria is heard asking Neno Evangelism officials to present a valid Unified Business Permit and a Food Handlers certificate for a hotel operating within the premises.

Mosiria is also seen questioning where the waste from the facility is being disposed of.
The footage sparked mixed reactions online, with some users questioning whether the matter fell under Mosiria’s docket and others labeling the operation a public relations stunt.
“For me this is just PR, for how long has this church hotel been operating in Nairobi? All of asudden the county officials have woken up. No wonder the commander is using the word takataka,” said George Ngigi.
@Mimimkenya_7 added, “It is unprofessional for you to be calling the shots and embarrassing citizens in the name of doing your work. Leave the camera behind and go to work for your own good.”
@Sefusahm questioned, “Is that within your scope of work, and is it even a legal method for recovering unpaid land rates?”
The standoff follows a recent video rant by Pastor Ng’ang’a in which he addressed the Nairobi City Council over the land rates issue, saying he was willing to pay any outstanding amounts.
“City Council ya Nairobi, milioni kumi ni taka taka kwangu. Ata milioni tano ni taka taka kwangu, ata naweza peana gari yangu. Shamba mlipeleka kortini, ni sawa imefungwa. Mimi sijakataa kulipa,” he said.
He went on to compare his situation to that of the Freemasons’ Hall, which was recently shut down by the county government over Ksh19 million in unpaid rates.
Ng’ang’a also claimed that former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko had granted waivers on land rates to him and other churches within the CBD.
“Kama wa devil worshipper wamekataa kulipa, mimi sijakataa kulipa… Sonko alitupea barua akasema ametupatia waiver. Nataka watu wa City Council msikize kwa makini. I have the papers,” he asserted.
He further argued that the current county administration had not issued any official communication revoking the waiver issued during Sonko’s tenure.
