Activist Morara Kebaso has hinted at dropping his presidential ambitions in favour of Mumias East MP Peter Salasya in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an appearance on Radio Maisha, Morara said he is willing to back any candidate with integrity and a vision to transform the country, qualities he believes Salasya possesses.
“Kama tutashikana na viongozi wengine wenye mtazamo tofauti na huu wa ufisadi, ambao wanataka kubadilisha taifa la Kenya, na tuketi kwa meza isemekane kwamba Morara fanya kazi hii, na huyu aongoze taifa, niko tayari kumsupport,” Morara said.
“Omtatah yuko, Maraga yuko, viongozi wenye maadili mema wanoanaweza kubadilisha Kenya wapo. Hata PK Salasya anaweza,” he added.
However, Morara didn’t spare Salasya from criticism, referencing a viral video of the MP smoking.
“Bora apunguze tu ile kitu anatumia, atakuwa sawa kabisa,” he remarked.
Asked whether he would consider supporting former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i for the top seat, Morara flatly rejected the idea, stating he would not endorse a return of the Jubilee government.
The activist recently caused a stir online after asking Kenyans to contribute Sh1.5 billion to fund his presidential campaign.
In a viral video shared on his social media platforms, Kebaso had urged young Kenyans to contribute Sh100 each as part of what he called a people-driven political revolution.
“If money was everything, Jimnah Mbaru would be the governor of Nairobi. We have over 15 million young voters. If each one of us contributes just 100 bob, that’s KSh1.5 billion, enough to fund a winning campaign,” he said.
Despite the backlash that followed, Morara remained firm on his call for public fundraising.
“It’s just about to get big. We are just about to raise money like we never have before. Hatutawacha mambo ya contribution. That is the future of politics. What Kenyans and the youth should know is that I have taken the shame away from begging,” he insisted.
