President William Ruto’s aide, Farouk Kibet, is trending once again; this time for a tongue-slip moment during a church speech in Nandi that left Kenyans buzzing online.

In a now-viral video, Farouk, known for his bold personality and position in the circles of power, mistakenly suggested that church congregants had gathered to worship the devil.

“Wakati tumekusanyika, shetani hana mpango na sisi. Sisi ndio tuko na mpango wa kumshinda shetani... hata na wakati huo huo... wakati shetani anatuchekelea kwa sababu tuko busy, sisi tunamwambia tunamwabudu shetani kanisani,” he said, before quickly correcting himself: “Yeye atashindwa na sisi tunaabudu Mungu kanisani maana shetani ataondoka kanisani.”

Social media users wasted no time reacting, with some poking fun while others dismissed it as a harmless slip of the tongue.

“Ever heard of a Freudian Slip?” asked Wilson Okelloh.

But not everyone was amused.

Thomas Otiende quoted scripture: “Nothing like the tongue slipped. ‘Out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks.’”

Others came to Farouk’s defense.

“His tongue slipped because he kept repeating ‘shetani’. It happens. People are just blowing it out of proportion,” said @Losh_TamKE.

“You guys are overreacting,” added @19sherrif. “He clearly got mixed up mid-sentence. He even had notes to help him stay on track.”

This isn’t Farouk’s first time in the spotlight.

Just last month, a video went viral on social media showing him in a controversial moment involving Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi.

In the video, Farouk was authoritatively directing Finance CS Mbadi and his entourage away from a red carpet shortly after his arrival, presumably at a presidential event, before guiding him to the side and towards a seating area.

The viral video triggered mixed reactions online, with some expressing amazement at Farouk’s perceived authority, while others argued that the situation had been blown out of proportion.
