Ahmednasir Abdullahi subtly endorses Babu Owino to unseat Sakaja:

Flamboyant Nairobi lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi, famously known as Grand Mullah, has warmly congratulated Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili, alias Babu Owino, upon his admission to the bar.

Taking to X, Ahmednasir remarked, "Maybe it will take a lawyer to restore the glory days of Nairobi. Welcome to the bar."

The cryptic post was seen to suggest Ahmednasir was endorsing Babu's bid to unseat Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.

@thee_alfa_house posed, "Is this your official endorsement of Babu Owino to unseat Johnson Sakaja in 2027?"

Babu Owino noted that the moment marked a personal triumph, and it is his mission rooted in justice to ensure Kenyans get the justice they deserve.

Known for his fiery activism as the former chairperson of the Students Organisation of Nairobi University (SONU), where he championed students' rights, Owino has consistently remained a bold and controversial voice for the under-represented.

In a lengthy social media post, Babu noted that his inspiration to study law was born in the slums of Nyalenda, Kisumu.

He wrote, "Ordinary Kenyans were constantly being harassed and humiliated by law enforcement, simply because they didn’t know their constitutional rights.”

The ODM politician added, “Even my mother was arrested multiple times. Instead of being taken to court, she’d be beaten and coerced into paying bribes, all for brewing chang’aa to keep us fed.”

In a past interview with TV47, Owino revealed that he holds four university degrees. “Actuarial Science First Class Honours was for my mother. A master’s in architectural science for my sister. A Bachelor of Laws for my brother. And finally, a master’s in law for myself,” he said.

Education, for his family, was a luxury; he was the only sibling who could attend school, chosen by necessity and determination.

Babu noted that his admission to the bar is a new arsenal in his fight for justice. “This isn’t about personal grandiosity,” he stated. “It’s about sharpening the tools of service. The law is now a new battlefield where I’ll fight even harder for justice, equity, and the rights of the common mwananchi.”

Known for his audacious stunts, including jumping over the fence at Parliament during the Gen-Z protests to stand with demonstrators, Babu declared a fresh front in his activism.

“The government should brace itself for more lethal arguments, this time in Parliament and in court. Legal action is coming to hold systems accountable, promote job creation, and reduce the cost of living.”

Signing off with a defiant declaration, he said, “The revolution continues, now with a gown and a gavel. So help me God.”
