A photo of former Othaya Member of Parliament Mary Wambui has ignited humorous reactions online, with many Kenyans pointing out her striking resemblance to Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.
In the widely shared image posted on X, Wambui appears dressed in formal attire and wearing a wig, holding a microphone as she seemingly addresses an audience. Social media users were quick to comment on the uncanny likeness, with several mistaking her for the Deputy President at first glance.
User @Eng_Justice remarked, “Nani huyo hana bassss?”
@Sherry_watz asked, “Are they cousins?”
While @iam_Wekesa admitted, “I thought it was Kindiki for a moment.”

Deputy President Kindiki is no stranger to online commentary, particularly concerning his soft-spoken voice.
Just two weeks ago, he responded to ongoing public teasing in a viral clip that has since gained traction on TikTok.
Speaking during an economic empowerment forum in Thika, Kindiki addressed the criticism directly.
“Before you introduce me as someone who doesn't have bass, who doesn't have bass? Do I look like someone without bass? It's this kind of disrespect that’s troubling people,” he said, prompting laughter from the audience.

He then went on to underscore his credentials and resilience in the political and security arenas.
“I’ve fought Al-Shabaab, dealt with bandits, do you think I’d be shaken by politicians? Mimi ni noma, si noma? Mimi ni fire, si fire?”
His remarks followed a series of jabs from political figures, including former Attorney General Justin Muturi, who mocked the DP’s voice at a public event while discussing the government’s housing fund.
“President Ruto gives that money to the young man who speaks (soprano sounds) and calls it empowerment. Even speaking like that brings problems,” Muturi said, drawing mixed reactions from the public.

Former Othaya MP Mary Wambui is also no stranger in the news.
Wambui became the subject of media attention during President Kibaki's term, with the peak coming in 2009 when the late Kibaki called a press conference to insist that he only had one wife.
"This is my wife Lucy, and I want to state something that I wanted you to hold dear and permanently in your heart. We all know that I'm married and I have only one wife, and everyone in Kenya knows it, but the media keeps repeating that my having another wife or wives. I want to make it very clear that I have only one wife, Lucy," Kibaki stated during the infamous press briefing that has remained etched in history books to date.
