PHOTOS: Rigathi Gachagua hosts Jimmy Wanjigi at Wamunyoro amid opposition consultations

Former DP and DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua has hosted businessman and politician Jimmy Wanjigi at his Wamunyoro residence, a move in the recent efforts to build a united opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Sharing photos of the meeting on his social media platforms, Gachagua said the two held consultations on the country's political future, describing the discussions as part of broader engagements aimed at shaping what he called the "6th Administration."

"Pleased to have held consultations with Businessman Jimmy Wanjigi who called on me at the Wamunyoro residence. The liberation cause of our Country and the formation of the 6th Administration is so critical that we must get views from all," Gachagua shared.

The meeting is politically significant because it brings together two influential figures who have often operated in different political circles but now appear to be exploring common ground as the opposition seeks to forge a formidable alliance against President William Ruto in 2027.

Wanjigi has long been regarded as a key political strategist and financier with influence across Kenya's political landscape.

The billionaire businessman has recently intensified his opposition stance by launching scathing attacks on the national budget and the Finance Bill 2026.

He has repeatedly urged Kenyans to reject the proposed tax measures, warning that the country is falling into deeper debt slavery. 

Now, the high-profile meeting comes as Gachagua undertakes a highly publicised 45-day political retreat at his Wamunyoro village home.

The former deputy president announced the intensive consultations following a tour of western Kenya and a series of legal battles regarding his impeachment.

At the advent of the political retreat, Gachagua noted that his doors remain open to all leaders who are willing to dialogue about the future of the nation.

"We are building a broad-based movement that responds to the cries of ordinary Kenyans who feel left behind by the current regime. My 45 days of listening to leaders and the public will form the roadmap for our next political chapter," Gachagua stated.
