MCSK had filed an application in court under certificate of urgency following the Tribunal’s decision which barred it from collecting and distributing the royalties.
KECOBO has suspended MCSK’s license over leadership wrangles, leaving PAVRISK and KAMP as the only authorized royalty collectors.
Consequently, two agencies will now collect royalties on behalf of musicians and audio-visual rights holders through Unified Copyright Licenses.
The Kenya Copyright Board has withheld the issuance of an operating licence to the Music Copyright Society of Kenya.
