A viral video has sparked outrage after showing a police officer threatening to shoot and kill a civilian.
In the footage, two officers and several civilians are inside a police Land Cruiser when one officer says, “Even if I get a gun, I am not afraid to use it.”
A civilian questions him, asking, “So you would just shoot an ordinary young man for no reason? You’re a police officer and you could kill someone like that?”
The officer raises his finger and issues a chilling warning: “If you try to hit me, don’t play with my life. If you do, you will be buried and I will file a case. Even if I am arrested, I will go to court and get out on bond while you end up buried.”
Another voice tries to calm him, appealing to his humanity: “Don’t treat someone’s child like that. You will have children of your own one day.”

The officer remains defiant: “You can’t teach me anything. You will be the ones holding funerals. I might go to court, but the funerals will still happen.”
When pressed with the question, “Have you killed many people?” he replies, “I will just go to court and say I never killed anyone.”
The video has sparked a storm of reactions online, with many Kenyans expressing anger and fear over what they see as a troubling display of impunity in law enforcement.
Some called for the ejection of the officer from the service, while others warned of the dangers of unchecked power within the force.
"@NPSOfficial_KE, is this how you train your officers? That they can kill us and walk out of courts as if nothing happened? Is this the reason we are experiencing officers shooting us, and nothing is done? This is very concerning. @IPOA_KE," one user asked on X.
Another, however, came to the defence of the officer.
"Watu wanalalamika hapa kwa nini? The officer says if you try to harm him, ndio atakumaliza. Why would you try to beat a police officer? Kwani ukona kichwa mbaya?"
The incident has reignited scrutiny on police conduct and accountability, with critics arguing it reflects deeper systemic issues that continue to erode public trust.
