Inspekta Mwala wins triple gold at London short stature games, asks Ruto for honour

Veteran actor Davis Hezron Mwabili, popularly known as Inspekta Mwala, has drawn attention after winning a gold medal in the 60 metres race at the 33rd National Short Statured Persons Games 2026 held in London, United Kingdom.

The veteran entertainer, one of Kenya’s most recognisable television personalities, represented the country in multiple disciplines at the international event.

He competed in football, basketball and track, delivering strong performances across all categories.

Mwala’s campaign began on the football pitch, where his team secured a gold medal. He later featured in basketball before concluding the games with the 60 metres race, where he also claimed gold. The results saw him finish the tournament with three medals, emerging as one of the standout participants.

Speaking after his win, Mwala said he was excited by the achievement, noting that while he has long admired elite athletes on the podium, he never imagined experiencing it himself.

“Becoming the first Kenyan to triumph in this race is historic. Hiyo furaha ya Arsenal haiwezi fikia hii. When I land from the United Kingdom, President William Samoei Ruto must declare a public holiday in my honour and thereafter invite me for an exclusive State Dinner pale State House, Kenya. Wenye hawana wivu lazima mnipongeze, congratulations to me I have raised the Kenyan flag high,” Mwala said.

Known for his humour both on and off screen, Mwala also joked about the reception he expects upon returning home, comparing his achievement to celebrations usually reserved for Kenya’s top marathon runners, including Sabastian Sawe, who was hosted at State House last month.

His performance has sparked excitement among fans online, with many congratulating him for representing Kenya strongly beyond the entertainment industry and showcasing his versatility in sport.
