Veteran TV host Jeremy Clarkson opens up on prostate cancer battle in emotional episode

By | June 18, 2026

Veteran media personality Jeremy Clarkson has revealed he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

The footage, filmed during the 2024-25 production cycle of the latest season of Clarkson's Farm, shows the 66-year-old presenter informing series regulars Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland about the diagnosis, leaving both visibly shocked.

Although Clarkson did not disclose the stage of the cancer, he described it as "aggressive" and said part of his prostate had been removed as part of his treatment.

"I disappeared off the other week, and I had a biopsy, and it is cancer, and it's aggressive, but it's really early," he told his colleagues in the episode.

Clarkson said he had known about the diagnosis since May and reassured those around him that he expected to recover.

"I promise I'll be fine," he said, adding that he would be out of action "for a little while".

In a later conversation with Cooper, Clarkson explained, "The prostate, 10% of it is dead, the 10% where the cancer is." He also told co-star Gerald Cooper that he had undergone surgery and doctors were hopeful it had been successful.

According to Sky News, the series ends with Clarkson in a hospital bed following treatment.

"We started season five with me in a hospital bed, and here we are at the end of season five and I'm back in the hospital bed," he says in the episode.

"Some of the treatment's gone a bit awry, let's say, so I'm going to be here for a little while. I'm nil by mouth, I don't know what's going to happen."

He added, "But if this is all successful, I'll see you for season six, and if it isn't, I won't. Take care everyone."

Ahead of the episode's release, Clarkson posted a video on Instagram warning fans that the new episodes would be "a difficult watch" and markedly different from the programme's usual light-hearted tone.

His health has featured prominently in recent seasons. Season five opened with Clarkson discussing a heart procedure in October 2024, when he had a stent fitted after doctors discovered blocked arteries.

Several public figures, including former British prime minister Rishi Sunak and broadcaster Piers Morgan, publicly offered support and encouraged men to undergo prostate cancer screening.

"Prostate cancer affects far too many men and early diagnosis can make all the difference," Sunak wrote on X.

Clarkson rose to prominence as a presenter of Top Gear from 2002 to 2015 and later co-hosted The Grand Tour.

He launched Clarkson's Farm in 2021 and also hosts Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?.
