The second half of 2026 is shaping up to be a big one for cinema, with Hollywood reviving fan-favourite franchises while introducing fresh adventures across sci-fi, horror, fantasy and action.
From epic space sagas to chilling reboots and long-awaited sequels, these are some of the biggest films heading to the big screen.
1. End of Oak Street
Written and directed by David Robert Mitchell, End of Oak Street stars Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor.
The sci-fi survival thriller follows a family whose quiet suburban neighbourhood is mysteriously transported to a dangerous prehistoric world inhabited by dinosaurs and other ancient creatures.
The film opens in cinemas on August 14, 2026.
2. Insidious: Out of the Further
The sixth instalment in the Insidious franchise is written and directed by Jacob Chase.
Set after 2023's Insidious: The Red Door, the supernatural horror film stars Amelia Eve, Brandon Perea and Maisie Richardson-Sellers, with Lin Shaye reprising her iconic role as Elise Rainier.
It arrives in cinemas on August 21, 2026.
3. Resident Evil
Directed and co-written by Zach Cregger, this reboot of the Resident Evil franchise is inspired by Capcom's hit video game series.
The story follows medical courier Bryan (Austin Abrams), who becomes trapped in a city overrun by monsters after a deadly virus outbreak.
Filmed in Prague, the horror film premieres on September 18, 2026.
4. Clayface
Based on the DC Comics villain, Clayface is directed by James Watkins and written by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini.
Tom Rhys Harries stars as Matt Hagen, an actor whose disfigured face is transformed into living clay following a scientist's experiment.
The third film in the new DC Universe opens in cinemas on October 23, 2026.
5. The Cat in the Hat
This animated comedy reimagines Dr Seuss' classic 1957 children's book.
Directed by Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja, it marks the first feature-length animated adaptation of the beloved story and hits cinemas on November 6, 2026.
6. The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping
Directed by Francis Lawrence and based on Suzanne Collins' 2025 novel, the sixth Hunger Games film serves as a prequel to the original series. It follows a young Haymitch Abernathy as he competes in the deadly 50th Hunger Games, set 24 years before Katniss Everdeen's story begins. It premieres on November 20, 2026.
7. Dune: Part Three
Denis Villeneuve returns to direct the final chapter of his Dune trilogy, based on Frank Herbert's Dune Messiah. Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya and Jason Momoa reprise their roles, while Hans Zimmer returns to compose the score. The sci-fi epic opens on December 18, 2026.
8. Jumanji: Open World
Directed by Jake Kasdan, Jumanji: Open World is the fifth instalment in the franchise and continues the story from Jumanji: The Next Level.
Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan return, joined by newcomers Burn Gorman and Nasim Pedrad. The adventure film arrives in cinemas on December 25, 2026.
