Nairobi County’s Chief Officer for Customer Engagement and Citizen Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has urged Pastor Kanyari to pay closer attention to his daughter’s online activity, saying he has previously raised similar concerns.

In an Instagram post on Monday, June 22, 2026, Mosiria cautioned that the teenager’s manner of expression on social media indicated the need for firm parental guidance.

He noted that adolescence is a sensitive stage in which young people often become curious, experiment with adult behaviour and are easily influenced by peers and online content.

Mosiria further warned that decisions made during this period can have long-term consequences for both children and their families, adding that negative experiences at a young age can leave lasting emotional and social effects.

While careful not to make direct allegations, he urged parents to be cautious about who they entrust with their children.

“Do not trust just anyone with your children,” he wrote, adding that in today’s digital environment “anything is possible.” He called on parents to remain vigilant and prioritise the safety and wellbeing of their children.

He also stressed that no one can replace a parent’s love, protection and responsibility, recommending that busy caregivers involve trusted family members, particularly grandparents, in supporting and supervising children.

Concluding his message, Mosiria said parental presence is critical as children navigate adolescence, adding that safeguarding their future should remain a top priority.

“Uchungu wa mwana aujuaye ni mzazi. No one can replace the love, protection, and responsibility of a parent. If you are busy, involve trusted family members, especially grandparents, to help guide and support the children. The safety, well-being, and future of our children must always come first,” part of his post read.

The remarks have sparked mixed reactions online, with members of the public weighing in on parental responsibility in the age of social media and the challenges of guiding teenagers in a highly digital environment.

@Edwin Ctu wrote on social media, “That TikTok account should be pulled down as yesterday. Tuanze hapo.”

@Emmanuel Wekesa said, “For the first time I agree with you.”

@Meltus25 added, “The girl is becoming Alicia Kanini.”
