Kenyan-born, US-based rapper KayCyy has secured a major career milestone after officially joining A$AP Rocky’s AWGE label, a move that signals a significant step in his rising influence within global hip-hop.
AWGE confirmed the signing on Monday, June 22, 2026, stating: “A$AP Rocky signs Kenyan artist KayCyy to AWGE.”
The deal was sealed in Houston, Texas, where A$AP Rocky personally welcomed KayCyy into the AWGE collective, in the presence of members of the creative group.
The partnership comes after their recent collaboration on Rocky’s 2025 track “pray4dagang,” which helped heighten anticipation for the rapper’s upcoming album.
Originally from Keroka in Nyamira County and born to Kisii parents, KayCyy moved to Saint Paul, Minnesota, at the age of nine, a relocation that played a defining role in shaping his identity and musical path.
He is known for blending hip-hop, R&B, trap and melodic elements, developing a distinctive sound within contemporary rap.
KayCyy gained international recognition through his contributions to Kanye West’s “Donda,” where he provided vocals and songwriting on tracks including “Hurricane” and “Keep My Spirit Alive.”
His work on the project earned him a Grammy Award and opened doors to collaborations with major artists such as Travis Scott, Lil Baby, Lil Wayne and Rihanna.
Since then, he has continued building his solo catalogue with releases such as “Roses,” “Protect Me” and “Back in My Bag,” further establishing his reputation as a leading melodic voice in modern rap.
Before joining AWGE, he was previously signed to BuVision/Columbia Records and had also been associated with the YZY SND imprint.
AWGE’s roster and broader creative network have included artists and collaborators such as Playboi Carti, Skepta, Slowthai and Ferg, alongside a wider pool of producers and visual creatives shaping the collective’s aesthetic direction.
