A security guard has been arraigned in a Nairobi court for allegedly obtaining more than Sh700,000 from three people by falsely promising to secure police jobs for their relatives.
Isaack Kipkoech faces charges of cheating. In the first count, he is accused of obtaining Sh200,000 from Lilian Musungu, his mother-in-law, on December 5, 2025, in Nairobi city centre through fraudulent means.
In the second count, he is alleged to have obtained Sh200,000 from Lilian Nakini, his aunt, on December 6, 2025 at an undisclosed location using similar fraudulent tactics. In a third count, he is accused of obtaining Sh307,000 from Ambrose Kipsha on December 9, 2025 at an unknown location within the country.
Court documents indicate that on December 5, 2025, Kipkoech approached his former teacher, Ambrose Kipsha, claiming he worked in the Department of Defence and had secured vacancies in the Administration Police and the National Intelligence Service.
Kipsha reportedly contacted his mother-in-law, Lilian Musungu, and Kipkoech allegedly demanded Sh200,000 as a facilitation fee. After Musungu sent the money, he claimed he had secured seven more vacancies.
Believing him, Kipsha contacted another relative, Nakini, who sent Sh200,000 for her son's enrolment. Kipsha later sent Sh307,000 for another relative.
After collecting the money, Kipkoech reportedly continued making promises before evading them. Kipkoech denied the charges and was released on a Sh200,000 bond or Sh100,000 bail, with trial scheduled for January 1, 2026.
