Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have rescued 48 young women after breaking up two suspected human trafficking and sexual exploitation groups in Kajiado County.
Rongai, officers raidedIn Ongata a house in the Rimpa area and found a commercial webcam studio. The house had been changed into a production site with seven laptops fitted with cameras and other broadcasting equipment.
Police rescued 30 women aged 19 to 27 and arrested several people believed to have run the operation. The devices will undergo forensic examination, and the suspects will be taken to court.
In a separate operation in Kiserian and Rongai, police uncovered a trafficking ring that pretended to be a domestic recruitment agency. Investigators say the group lured young women with promises of legitimate domestic jobs, then confined them and forced them into commercial sex work.
Officers rescued 18 women and recovered mobile phones, laptops and digital storage devices used in the scheme. The suspected ringleader escaped before police arrived, but efforts to find and arrest them are ongoing.
All 48 rescued women are now under government protection. Authorities say they will receive emergency shelter, medical care and psychosocial support.
The DCI said arrangements are being made to provide safe housing and full support services to help the women recover and reintegrate.
The DCI thanked members of the public for the information that led to the raids and said detectives have increased operations in Kiserian and Ongata Rongai to stop groups that prey on vulnerable young women.
