A bitter love triangle has landed a 27-year-old security guard in court after he allegedly threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend over a phone contact saved as "MCA" in her mobile phone.

Vincent Kiprono Mutai, the accused, reportedly caused a scene that disturbed the peace when he confronted Z.J., a college student, at her house in Mathare North 4, Starehe Sub-County, on March 6.

Court records reveal that Kiprono's jealousy spiralled out of control after discovering the mysterious contact, which he believed belonged to a Member of County Assembly (MCA).

What began as a blossoming romance soon turned toxic, with the complainant accusing Kiprono of constant death threats fueled by insecurities over male contacts saved in her phone.

However, the MCA's number seemed to push Kiprono over the edge, leading to violent threats and ultimately the end of their relationship.

On the fateful day, Kiprono stormed into his ex-lover's house armed with a pen knife. He allegedly locked the door, demanded a meal, and brandished the knife tucked in his waist, vowing to make her "face it rough."

Fearing for her life, the complainant cleverly convinced Kiprono to buy her supper at a nearby hotel. Seizing the opportunity, she fled to a friend's house and reported the incident at Muthaiga Police Station.

Kiprono was later arrested at the complainant's house while issuing further death threats.

He was arraigned before Senior Resident Magistrate Mbati, who granted him a cash bail of Ksh 10,000. The case is set for hearing on September 3.
