Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater split after three years together

Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater have ended their relationship after three years together.

The pair, who met while working on Wicked, recently decided to part ways.

A source told People on June 8 that the split was amicable and followed careful consideration.

“It’s amicable; they gave lots of time and careful consideration and decided to go their separate ways,” the insider said. “They are still friends and very supportive of one another. They have been quietly broken up for several months.”

According to TMZ, Grande is in a positive place personally and professionally as she prepares for her Eternal Sunshine tour and the release of her upcoming album Petal, due in July.

The breakup follows months of speculation about strains in the relationship. Earlier reports suggested Slater had struggled with the intensity of public attention around Grande’s career and personal life.

“He sometimes wonders if he should have stayed in his quieter world; the contrast is brutal,” a source said. “He loves her, but he’s drowning in the circus of her life. Even when he’s home, he’s mentally halfway through the tour or rehearsals.”

Another insider claimed the couple experienced repeated ups and downs over the past year, including brief periods of separation and reconciliation.

Grande and Slater began dating in 2023 after both ended their previous marriages.

Grande separated from Dalton Gomez in early 2023 before filing for divorce later that year, while Slater also filed for divorce from his wife, Lilly Jay.

The couple later went public with their relationship, appearing together at Broadway and film events tied to Wicked and other productions, including awards season appearances alongside the film’s cast.
