Buuri Member of Parliament Mugambi Rindikiri was involved in an early morning road accident along the busy Nanyuki–Meru highway.
The accident occurred near Siraji area in Timau, where the MP’s black Toyota Land Cruiser reportedly collided with a white van that was ferrying Catholic nuns.
Following the incident, concerns were raised over the safety of those involved, prompting the legislator to issue an update reassuring the public that everyone was safe.
“My team and I appreciate the concern shown following a road incident. We are all safe and doing well,” Rindikiri said.
“I am also glad to report that those in the other vehicle, which was carrying Catholic sisters, are doing well. Thank you to my constituents and fellow Kenyans for the prayers and goodwill,” he added.
Photos from the scene showed both vehicles damaged at the front, though the damage appeared minor.
Authorities have since launched investigations into the cause of the collision, with full details yet to be released.
No serious injuries were reported from the accident.
The MP was reportedly headed to the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) programme being held at Kinoru Stadium in Meru.
The program, designed to disburse business start-up capital to thousands of young Kenyan entrepreneurs, has already held rallies in Nyeri and Nairobi, distributing grants of Sh25,000 to youth who have completed mandatory business training.
