Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has strongly criticized Farouk Kibet and nominated MP Sabina Chege over a controversial video that has stirred public outrage.
Speaking during a meeting with the Kenyan business community in Massachusetts, Gachagua described the incident as "indecent" and "humiliating."
"It's one of my most painful moments as a leader. I felt humiliated and demeaned; that Ruto and his people have brought us to this point," he said.
"I solely train my guns on Sabina Chege. She was giggling and laughing while they discussed her sexuality. She just grinned and laughed as if it was something funny," Gachagua added.
The video in question showed Farouk Kibet publicly parading Chege while addressing a charged crowd, making remarks about her physical appearance and suggesting no man would resist her.
"Huyu mama ako sawa ama hayuko sawa? Hata vile alivyo? Akipinduka hivi mnafurahi? Siku zote? Huyo mama akiwa kwa kitanda si unalala kabisa eh? Utaamka kesho ingine sio, atosha hatoshi?" Farouk said, in a controversial video that sent tongues wagging.
Gachagua, who is on a political tour of the United States of America, further accused the economic empowerment programs championed by Ruto's allies of alienating specific regions.
This isn't the first time female lawmakers have come under fire over sexually suggestive remarks in political settings.
Earlier, Bomet Woman Representative Linet Chepkorir 'Toto' made controversial comments during a political rally that sparked heated debate on sexism in politics.
"Na hao watu kazi yao ni kuongea ongea tu hapo wakisema sijui Ruto must go, sijui one term... Tumesema mwanamme kamili lazima aende round ngapi?" she said.
These statements have drawn criticism from moral watchdogs who argue such comments reflect a decline in ethical standards within public discourse.
