Former nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba was on Wednesday arrested after a failed attempt to access Parliament.
The afternoon standoff began when her vehicle, parked at the main entrance, blocked access to the precincts and triggered an altercation with Sergeants-at-arms.
Armed with court documents, Orwoba had sought entry to the Senate chamber, where plenary sittings were ongoing, but was denied access. A brief scuffle ensued before her vehicle was towed.
She was heard shouting, insisting a court had ruled her suspension illegal and ordered her reinstatement.
“I am not obstructing anyone. In fact you are the ones obstructing me from accessing my workplace. I am the one who should be arresting you for obstructing me. I am not here to serve the court papers. They have already served the Senate and that is why I am here,” said an agitated Orwoba.

Uniformed female officers later escorted her to Bunge Police Station, as her car was towed. The confrontation lasted about 15 minutes before calm was restored.
The incident marks the second time this week she has attempted to force her way into Parliament.
On August 25, 2025, Orwoba similarly tried to access the premises to present reinstatement papers following a court ruling in her favour, but was turned away, sparking a confrontation with security.
At the time, she insisted she remained legally in office and should be allowed into the Senate, where a special sitting to consider the impeachment of Kericho Governor Eric Mutai was underway.
Orwoba was later replaced by Consolata Wakwabubi after her nomination was withdrawn by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
“As long as that lady called Consolata Wakwabubi is sitting in that Senate, that sitting is illegal. That is a stranger on the floor of the House. That is a basis for an appeal for whatever outcome the impeachment will bring out,” she said.
“I have the orders that have removed her (Consolata) from the seat yet the Speaker of the Senate continues to entertain illegalities. The people of Kericho should know that whatever they are doing is not legal because there is a stranger who is sitting and thinking that she is executing an impeachment,” she added.
Throughout the standoff, Orwoba dared officers to arrest her and accused Senate Clerk Jeremiah Nyegenyeh of orchestrating her blocked access.
In defiance, she used her vehicle to block the Senate entrance, halting both entry and exit.
“You can arrest me. Shoot me in the foot because you have orders from above but this car is going to work. I know the law and I have everything required to gain access to the Senate,” she said.
