Facebook and TikTok were no longer available in Gabon on Wednesday, AFP journalists confirmed, hours after the media regulator announced.
A simple thumbs-up emoji, liking a Facebook post by Kileleshwa MCA, then being first to comment and tagging his colleagues with the post cost Dismas Kungu Kira his job.
The TCRA warned Meta of the consequences if the company refused to comply. The document states clearly that “the risks of not complying with the request included blocking Meta’s platforms.”
