Ngemi is set to return this coming May with a two-part cultural season aimed at bringing together different generations through curated experiences that blend music, food, art and community.
The programme will begin on May 16 with the introduction of Ngemi Seniors Edition, before culminating in the flagship Ngemi 6.0 event on May 30 in Limuru.
The introduction of Ngemi Seniors Edition signals a shift in the platform’s evolution, as it seeks to intentionally create space for an older generation that has often remained on the margins of such experiences.
Rather than positioning it as an extension of its main events, the edition is presented as a standalone concept, designed with a focus on comfort, pace and meaningful connection.
Founder Njoki said the move is deliberate, noting that the experience is meant to recognise a generation that has long been part of the culture but has rarely had spaces curated specifically for them.
“The Ngemi Seniors experience is about recognising and creating space for a generation that has always been part of this culture but has rarely had experiences designed specifically for them. It is our way of saying we see you, and we remember you,” she said.
The event will bring together music, food, art and cultural expression in a setting intended to feel grounded, considered and elevated, offering attendees an opportunity to reconnect and engage with culture at a more relaxed pace.
Two weeks later, Ngemi will return with Ngemi 6.0, its flagship experience, which continues to build on the scale and immersive energy the platform has become known for.
Njoki says the flagship edition reflects the platform’s continued commitment to creating spaces where culture is actively lived and expressed.
“Ngemi 6.0 builds on what we’ve been creating over the past five editions, a space where culture is not just remembered, but lived and expressed in real time,” she added.
Since its inception in 2024, the platform has grown into a notable cultural space known for curating immersive experiences that balance heritage with contemporary expression.
