A huge crowd gathered at the Sarit Expo Centre on Saturday, June 20, for Vurugu 2, a high-energy event that blended live music performances with celebrity boxing matches.

Organised by entertainment personality Oga Obinna, the show featured 28 fighters alongside a lineup of well-known musicians, keeping fans engaged from start to finish.

The music performances kept the crowd’s energy high throughout the night, with footage from the event circulating widely on social media.

Nigerian superstar Ruger headlined the night and sent Nairobi fans into a frenzy with a lively set.

Dressed in a black T-shirt and jeans, he performed several hits, including Girlfriend and Asiwaju.

At one point, the singer, born Michael Olayinka, removed his shirt and accepted a painting from an excited fan.

Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones also delivered a commanding performance, easily controlling the stage and connecting with the audience.

The Mbona hitmaker, dressed in matching red pants, a cap, white sneakers, and a jersey marked “Kelce,” later removed his white jacket after performing Ni Kubaya and threw it into the crowd as fans sang along.

Kenyan hip-hop group Wakadinali brought their signature street sound to the stage, performing fan favourites including Za Kimotho and Triple XL.

The trio, Domani Munga, Scar Mkadinali and Sewersyda, kept the crowd fully engaged with their energetic set.

Between the boxing bouts, DJs Kym Nickdee and Moh Spice maintained momentum with a mix of reggae, dancehall and Afro-fusion, ensuring the energy never dipped.

The boxing matches delivered plenty of drama and quick finishes. In the main celebrity bout, Ugandan entertainer Shakib Cham defeated Kenyan musician Arrow Bwoy via technical knockout in the second round.

In another closely watched fight, Fidel Castro, known as Phil, secured a dramatic TKO victory over Gachau Njoroge.

Khalid also recorded a rapid win, knocking out Lewis just 58 seconds into the second round, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.

The event opened with a special para-boxing exhibition between Tambo and Otiato, whose performance earned a standing ovation from the audience.

Siaya Governor James Orengo and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino were among the attendees.

Radio Maisha’s Jitabi Suleiman hosted the event.
