ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has become the centre of online banter after a photo of him in an unusual outfit went viral.

The image, showing Kabogo in a white shirt, formal tie, khaki trousers, colourful striped socks, and tan safari boots, ignited humorous reactions on X.

Many Kenyans joked that the outfit looked more appropriate for a game drive than a government office.

Almost instantly, Kabogo was turned into a meme sensation.

Netizens, known for their unmatched humour, didn’t hold back.

They poked fun at his look and questioned his grasp of ICT matters using cheeky captions.

One widely shared post read: “Baridi imezidi, hebu washa hotspot.”

Another, featuring Kabogo mid-speech, said: “Toa hizo mouse hapo kwa budget. Only the Ministry of Agriculture can buy animals.”

In true Kenyan fashion, another meme asked: “Huyo file manager analipwa pesa ngapi?”

Kabogo is no stranger to public scrutiny.

His first week in office sparked debate over his tough stance on online adult content.

“If I had a way of stopping pornography in Kenya, I would do it tonight,” he said during an interview.

He added: “Imagine you’re a young family with two rooms in Nairobi and three kids; a boy and two girls. Then they’re watching pornography in the other room. What do you expect? It’s like we are becoming an insane society.”

Before returning to public service, Kabogo had maintained a relatively low political profile.

His comeback was marked by a noticeable change in appearance, including a balding hairstyle reminiscent of the late President Mwai Kibaki, something Kenyans quickly noticed.

He debuted the new look at a burial, sparking another wave of online reactions.

Many noted he was “ageing gracefully.”

Speaking later to KTN, Kabogo responded to the growing fascination with his looks.

“It has been a long time [away from the media limelight], and yes, this is me. My hairstyle, my choice,” he said. “Kenyans love Kabogo, so they’ll love any hairstyle I settle on.”

The former Kiambu Governor’s fashion choices again made headlines during the Annual Data Privacy Conference, where he paired a formal suit with a traditional beaded headband, typically worn during cultural ceremonies like marriage, cleansing, or initiation.
