Bongo Flava singer Matonya has been released on bond after spending about 20 days in custody over rape allegations, with the court imposing strict conditions as the case proceeds to pre-trial.

According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), the court heard that the alleged offence occurred on April 7, 2026, at an apartment in Nyali Sub-County, Mombasa County.
