Shimza celebrates South African roots with new 'Sunset in Pretoria' EP

South African Afro House star Shimza has released Sunset in Pretoria, a three-track EP that pays tribute to his roots while highlighting the global rise of African electronic music.

Released on his Kunye Records label, the project arrives shortly after the launch of his residency at the iconic Pacha Ibiza and marks another milestone in the producer’s international career.

More than a collection of tracks, Sunset in Pretoria is a reflection on home, culture and identity. Through collaborations with South African and international artists, he blends atmospheric melodies, soulful vocals and Afro House rhythms into a cohesive musical journey.

The EP opens with the title track, Sunset in Pretoria, a collaboration with French-Dubai producer Demayä. Built on warm synths, hypnotic percussion and rich melodies, the song captures the beauty and mood of a Pretoria sunset while delivering an immersive dancefloor experience.

The second track, uMa Wami, features vocalist Thatohatsi and producer Jnr SA. Driven by soulful vocals and rolling Afro House grooves, the song celebrates South African talent and the collaborative spirit that continues to shape the country’s electronic music scene.

Closing the EP is Entle, featuring Jabulani Majola. The emotionally charged track combines heartfelt vocals and rich instrumentation, gradually building to a powerful finale that leaves listeners with a sense of warmth and reflection.

The release comes during a landmark period for Shimza, who has helped take Afro House to global audiences through performances at major events including Tomorrowland, Boiler Room, Ultra South Africa and Cercle. His collaborations with artists such as Aloe Blacc, CamelPhat, Black Motion and Ami Faku have further cemented his status as one of Africa’s leading electronic music exports.

Beyond music, Shimza is also recognised for his philanthropic work through the Shimuzic Foundation and his annual One Man Show in Soweto, which supports education and community development.

With Sunset in Pretoria, he delivers a personal and emotionally resonant project that celebrates South African culture while showcasing the growing influence of Afro House on the global stage.
