Homabay Woman Representative Atieno Bensouda was chased away from Nairobi Funeral Home by angry youth who had gathered for the release of autopsy results for the late Albert Ojwang.
Dramatic video footage circulating on social media shows a group of agitated youth quickly escorting Bensouda away from the funeral home entrance.
In the melee, the security detail struggled to control the hostile crowd while evacuating the MP from the scene.
"Kwendeni huko! Hii si harusi!" a voice is heard shouting above the commotion in the viral clip.
The youth were part of the group awaiting crucial autopsy findings conducted by a team of five pathologists at the facility.
The postmortem examination has since revealed that Albert Ojwang died from severe head trauma, neck compression, and multiple soft tissue injuries sustained across his body.
Definitively ruling out suicide, the pathologists concluded that the fatal injuries were deliberately inflicted by external forces.
"There were serious injuries to the head. There were also features of neck compression and multiple soft tissue injuries that were spread all over the body," said Dr Benard Midiai, the lead pathologist.
"These are injuries that are externally inflicted and are keeping with assault."
The post-mortem, which was slated for Monday, was pushed by a day after Chief government pathologist Johansen Oduor withdrew from the case, citing a potential conflict of interest due to family connections with the deceased.
Representatives from the victim's family, government officials, human rights organizations, and Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) officers observed the procedure.
IPOA has launched a formal investigation into the death.
This comes as videos surfaced of angry protesters confronting alleged undercover police officers accused of covertly photographing demonstrators.
In another viral video, a man wearing a dark blue cap and jacket seeks protection behind uniformed officers as an enraged crowd advances.
When police appeared to release him, protesters gave chase and cornered the individual.
The mob accused him of being an undercover operative and demanded identification.
Under pressure from the crowd, he reportedly revealed personal details including his name, service number, and alleged workplace at Pangani Police Station.
