Kayole husband denies stabbing night guard in suspected love triangle

Anger, betrayal, and a desire to serve self-justice have landed a man in Kayole in serious trouble.

In a suspected love triangle, Litali Opicho allegedly stabbed a night guard on the head and back before threatening to kill his wife, accusing the two of being in a relationship.

Opicho appeared before Makadara Law Courts Senior Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe, where he denied assaulting Samwel Katuemba, a night guard, and threatening to end the life of his wife, identified in court as S.V.O.

And just like a scorned man, his fury filled the room as he allegedly declared: "Afadhali niue huyu mwanamke kuliko niache alete mwanamme kwa nyumba yangu nikiwa hai."

According to the court records, Opicho uttered the words on November 15, 2025 at Kwa D.O. area of Kayole Sub-county. It is the same day he is alleged to have assaulted Katuemba, occasioning actual bodily harm.

Prior to the incident, the accused is said to have suspected that his wife and the night guard were in an illicit affair, something he claimed broke his heart. That morning, he reportedly went to the guard's house and asked him if he was married. When he learnt that the guard was not married, he walked away without further conversation.

The guard, however, became worried and shared the matter with the accused's wife, who in turn informed the caretaker. Unsure of what Opicho's intentions had been, the wife called her husband, who had already left for work, to ask whether he was on good terms with the guard.

Opicho assured her that everything was fine and told her not to worry, since her name was not involved.

However, this reassurance left the wife unsettled. When her husband returned in the evening, she called the guard to the house in a bid to resolve the matter. The husband was asleep in the bedroom but woke up upon realising the guard had been ushered into the house. The wife then stepped outside to call the caretaker to witness and help mediate the situation.

Before she returned, her daughter's piercing scream shattered the evening calm. The young girl was pleading with her father to spare the guard's life, crying out: "Daddy, leave him!"

The accused then turned on his wife, threatening to kill her as well.

Neighbours intervened, rescuing the wife.

Opicho has since pleaded not guilty in court. However, he maintained that his wife had been having an affair with the guard and claimed that on the fateful day, he busted them inside the house.

He was granted cash bail of Sh10,000 pending the hearing scheduled for May 20 2026.
