Just weeks after celebrating her graduation, a young Kenyan woman has left the country shaken after a disturbing video showed her wandering the streets of Nyamache, Kisii County, still dressed in her graduation gown, sash and academic cap.
In the clip circulating widely on social media, the barefoot graduate appears disheveled, talking to herself and softly singing a gospel song as she walks aimlessly through the area.
The stark contrast between her recent academic milestone and her current state has sparked shock, concern and urgent calls for intervention.
Social media reports claim the young woman graduated from Egerton University in Nakuru barely three weeks ago.
The person recording the video can be heard watching in visible distress as the graduate roams the streets, seemingly disconnected from the world that had promised her a bright future just days earlier.

The footage has triggered mixed reactions online. While many Kenyans expressed concern over a possible mental health breakdown, others controversially attributed her condition to witchcraft and dark forces.
“Someone get her to a mental health hospital urgently,” wrote X user Wazi Afrikan. Another, Pat Gudah Experience, added, “Our friends from Kisii, we love you. But please explain this to me like I’m Karen Nyamu or Oscar Sudi.”
Others claimed to have seen her earlier.
“So sad. I saw her last Friday passing by the Nyamache road,” wrote Ojode Ojay.
Meanwhile, some comments took a more alarming turn, blaming alleged witchcraft and village jealousy; claims that have long fueled dangerous narratives in the region.
Kisii County has previously been linked to deadly witchcraft accusations. In October 2021, four elderly women, Jemima Miranga (60), Agnes Ototo (57), Sigara Onkware (62) and Siendege Mayaka (85) were beaten and burned to death in Mokona Village.
In early 2025, justice was finally served when three attackers were sentenced to 40 years in prison, while a fourth received a 15-year sentence after being found guilty as a minor at the time.
