Away from the political heat and constant public glare, Mumias East MP Peter Salasya took an unexpected spiritual pause in Nakuru, where he attended a lengthy prayer meeting led by Prophet David Owuor and later opened up about the experience.

Known more for his fiery political style and nonstop schedule, Salasya appeared markedly different at the Menengai 8 meeting, an end-of-year event organised by the Repentance and Holiness Ministry. Images shared on his social media captured the legislator in a sharp navy blue suit and red tie, standing on a red-carpeted dais alongside the controversial preacher. Other photos showed a more vulnerable moment; Salasya kneeling as Prophet Owuor prayed for him.

For the outspoken MP, the experience was not just symbolic but transformative. Salasya revealed that he sat through more than four hours of preaching; an unusual feat for a politician constantly on the move.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled,” Salasya wrote. “For the first time, I sat down for more than four hours receiving the word of God. The topic was about the fear of God.”

He added that the sermon left a lasting impression on him, describing it as a lesson in wisdom and humility.

“The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. So blessed to attend the pastors’ conference of Repentance and Holiness Ministry in Nakuru. I am blessed.”

Salasya’s attendance came amid heightened attention around Prophet Owuor’s activities in Nakuru. The preacher arrived in the city on December 29, 2025, staging a roadside crusade along Kenyatta Avenue that brought traffic to a standstill as thousands of followers flooded the streets to catch a glimpse of him.

However, the three-day gathering was not without controversy. At least one person reportedly died during the end-of-year crusade held at Technology Farm, an incident that briefly cast a shadow over the massive turnout.

Despite this, Prophet Owuor’s meetings drew huge crowds, with the cleric parading individuals who claimed to have been miraculously healed from various ailments, including HIV. Some of those who testified alleged that doctors had confirmed changes in their medical records, claims that have continued to spark public debate.
