Eric Wamumbi: Mathira MP says UDA's Ol Kalou loss was a blessing for Ruto

Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi has remained defiant, insisting that the recently concluded Ol Kalou by-election could ultimately work in President William Ruto's favour, despite the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) losing the seat.

Speaking during an interview on Obinna Show Live, Wamumbi argued that the loss should not be viewed as a political setback. Instead, he said it gives the President a clearer picture of his actual support on the ground, rather than relying on misleading assurances.

"UDA losing in Ol Kalou was a blessing for President Ruto," he said.

Wamumbi also praised Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, describing him as one of Kenya's most promising young leaders with the vision and energy to shape the country's future.

"I love Babu Owino's energy. He has a vision. He's going some places," Wamumbi said.

He, however, drew a sharp contrast between Babu Owino and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, arguing that although both possess similar leadership qualities, Nyoro has failed to demonstrate political courage.

"He's like Ndindi, but Ndindi is a coward," Wamumbi claimed.

The Mathira MP went on to allege that many Kenyans have lost confidence in Nyoro, adding that the country should embrace a new generation of leaders after President Ruto completes his tenure.

"Ndindi Nyoro is a fence-sitter. Kenyans have lost trust in him. We have agreed that in 2032 Ruto must go home with all these old men ndio awaachie akina Sifuna, Babu Owino can take the leadership of this country," he said.

Turning to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's political movement, Wamumbi said the formation is driven by leaders who genuinely care about ordinary Kenyans.

Despite the current political differences, he predicted that Gachagua and President Ruto would eventually find common ground.

"Hii Linda Tumbo na Linda Mwananchi ni wanaume wanajipanga na wanachanganya wananchi. Mtawaona kwa meza moja. Also, Riggy G will eventually work with William Ruto," he said.

Wamumbi's remarks have since triggered mixed reactions online, with supporters and critics debating his assessment of Kenya's shifting political landscape and what it could mean ahead of the 2027 General Election, as well as the country's leadership transition beyond Ruto's presidency.
