Mama mboga charged in attempted murder case

A vegetable vendor in Kaloleni estate is in trouble after she allegedly stabbed an intruder.

The man is said to have intruded into her house as she slept.

Faith Nyanchama Mangera, 27, is said to have attempted to kill Filbert Nzoyisaba on December 2 at around 2 am by stabbing him in the head and stomach.

Filbert, according to Mangera, broke into her house in the middle of the night while she slept with her child.

The complainant’s entry into the house prompted the accused to arm herself with a kitchen knife, She asked the intruder to identify himself and what he wanted in the dead night but the complainant reportedly moved towards her.

The accused could not bargain for her life and she allegedly defended herself by attacking him. He attempted to flee but fell at the doorstep while bleeding heavily.

The accused called out for help from neighbours before reporting to the police station.

Following the incident, the accused person threw the weapon and rushed to a nearby police station to report that the intruder whom she attacked was lying outside her doorstep.

Police rushed to the scene and found that the complainant had been rushed to a nearby medical facility before being transferred to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital.

The accused was detained by police who presented her before Makadara Principal Magistrate Mary Gichobi. She denied the charges and was released on a  bond of Sh300,000 with a surety of a similar amount.

The case will be mentioned on January 9, 2024 for a pre-trial.

The complainant is yet to record a statement since he could not communicate the time police visited him at the hospital.
