“Genuine bond. This is making my new week. It seems Ida’s pain has been wiped by this girl’s presence,” wrote Robert Chepkwony on X (formerly Twitter).

Honoring his wish to be buried within 72 hours, the family organized an elaborate yet deeply emotional funeral that drew mourners and tributes from across Kenya and beyond.

In the days since, moments of unity and comfort have emerged; including a touching visit by Arsenal fans, who paid their respects to the family in honor of Raila’s well-known love for the football club.

Last week, in a symbolic continuation of legacy, the family held a traditional ceremony where Raila Odinga Jr. was officially installed as head of the Odinga family, in the presence of Dr Ida, Yvonne Wambui Odinga, and Senator Oburu Odinga.
